Spring/summer 2017 shows are well underway, and we’re already compiling our arm-candy wish lists for the season.

Lately, though, hardware rings and other circle embellishments have taken a more prominent and often primary role, including handles, closures and non-functional embellishments.

In the current market, most high-end bags exist at one end or the other of the aesthetic spectrum: either they’re in the vein of Céline minimalism or Gucci maximalism. Almost all of the circle-adorned bags fall to the minimalist side of things, which makes sense–circles are a neat, clean, unassuming way to add visual interest without making a bag feel cluttered or purposefully decorated.

From Gucci’s Dionysus to Chloé’s Faye Bag, or the J.W. Anderson pierce bag, circular hardware is the thing. Thanks to fashion week, we now have a clear idea of what’s going to be the next hottest bag trend. Simon Miller’s Bonsai bag has been a real hit, as well as the brand new bag from Chloé, the Nile Minaudière Bag.
