The ‘Book Girl’ Aesthetic Is Everywhere Right Now, Here’s Why I’m Into It

The 'Book Girl' Aesthetic Is Everywhere Right Now, Here's Why I'm Into It

Has anyone else noticed their entire feed turning into cardigans, coffee shops, and dog-eared paperbacks lately?

The “book girl” aesthetic has fully taken over, and honestly, I get it.

There’s something so comforting about the whole vibe, cozy knits, literary graphic tees, that soft academic energy that makes you want to curl up somewhere with a novel and a latte. I resisted it for about a week before caving completely, and now I’m all in. Here’s why this trend earned a permanent spot in my closet.

This whole rabbit hole started when I stumbled on Pagewings, and I haven’t looked back since. They’re a small brand built entirely around literary culture, think witty, book-nerd graphics on soft, well-made basics that don’t feel costume-y or overly cutesy. It’s less “novelty tee” and more “this actually looks like something a stylish reader would wear on purpose.”

What I love most is how versatile their pieces are. Their library shirts work just as well thrown on with jeans for a coffee run as they do layered under something dressier for a night out. It’s the kind of brand that makes being a book lover feel like an actual aesthetic, not just a personality trait you mention on dating apps.

They’ve also got range beyond tees. Their book jersey styles bring a sporty, oversized edge to the whole look, which I didn’t know I needed until I owned one.

My Wishlist for the Perfect Book Girl Outfit

Here’s what’s currently in my cart, piece by piece, and how each one fits into the aesthetic.

This is peak book lover shirt energy. The washed finish gives it that broken-in, vintage feel right away, and the graphic is subtle enough to wear anywhere without feeling like a costume.

I’m obsessed with this one because it takes the sporty jersey trend and gives it a literary twist. It’s a little cheeky, a little bold, and exactly the kind of public library shirt energy I want in my wardrobe this year.

This is the piece that makes the whole aesthetic feel complete. It’s soft, romantic, and effortlessly whimsical, exactly what I picture when I think of the dreamiest version of this trend.

Cozy, oversized, and easy to throw on for library dates or lazy Sundays. It’s basically the uniform version of a bookish cardigan, minus the buttons, and I love having both options depending on the mood.

Because the aesthetic doesn’t stop at the top half. These sweatpants make the whole look feel intentional instead of thrown together, and I love that they still carry that same message-driven energy as the rest of the collection.

Beyond these five, a few other pieces have caught my eye too. Their library crop cropped shirts are perfect for warmer days, and their more pride less prejudice tank top is such a fun, literary nod for layering under something oversized.

And when it’s finally cool enough to bundle up, I’ll be reaching straight for their bookish hoodies, easy, comfortable, and still very much on-theme.

At the end of the day, this trend just feels like permission to dress like the version of yourself who always has a book in her bag, a coffee in hand, and zero interest in trying too hard. If that’s not the dream, I don’t know what is.
